Michael Owen reveals his prediction for Dynamo Kiev v Chelsea FC

Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea FC's trip to Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League on Thursday

Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to progress to the Europa League quarter-finals by beating Dynamo Kiev on Thursday night.

The Blues claimed a comprehensive 3-0 win over Dynamo Kiev in the first leg at Stamford Bridge last week to take a big step towards qualifying for the last eight.

Chelsea FC were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Wolves in the Premier League at the weekend, with Eden Hazard netting the late equaliser for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

The west London side face a battle to break back into the top four this season, with Sarri’s team currently sixth in the top-flight table with eight games left to play.

The Europa League could therefore take on a greater significance for Chelsea FC as they know that winning the competition would secure a route into next season’s Champions League.

And former Liverpool FC striker Owen is not expecting Chelsea FC to have any problems on Thursday night when they take on Dynamo Kiev away from home.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Chelsea have a comfortable lead from the first leg and I feel they will do more than enough in Kiev to qualify for the last eight.

“The Blues dropped two valuable points at home to Wolves on Sunday, but it is possible that Eden Hazard’s late equaliser against Wolves will be vital come the end of the season.”

Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season and won the FA Cup in Antonio Conte’s final campaign in charge in west London.
