Arsenal will need to pay at least €50m if they want to land in-demand striker

LOSC Lille’s hierarchy have hinted at their asking price for rumoured Arsenal target Nicolas Pepe.
Football.london understands that Arsenal have a long-standing interest in the Ivorian winger that while guided by now former head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has not totally dimmed since the German chief’s departure.

Pepe is also said to be favoured by reported Arsenal target Monchi, who, as football.london reported the previous month, is Arsenal’s first-choice to take on the position of technical director.

Pepe is improbable to come cheap, LOSC Lille owner Gerard Lopez told RMC – as per ESPN – this week that the attacker is now worth between “€50m and €80m” and it is not likely the north London club would be able to land him and bolster their defence as they want to unless they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

But should the Gunners be able to put together an adequately compelling offer for Nicolas Lille would not be able to keep hold of the 23-year-old star.

He has netted 16 times in 27 Ligue 1 matches this season, picking up a further eight assists. Only Paris Saint-Germain pair Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe have more goals to their names.

The striker has also been connected with Manchester United and Barcelona.

The Gunners may not be able to compete their reported rivals should they find themselves in a bidding war for Nicolas but they do have his alternatives, including Cristian Pavon of Boca Juniors, Genk’s Leandro Trossard and Roma’s Cengiz Under.
